This Privacy Policy explains how Dao Huy ("Lucas"), an independent professional Vietnamese translator based in Da Nang, Vietnam ("we", "us", "I"), collects, uses, discloses and protects your information when you visit daohuy.com (the "Site") or contact us to request a quote or translation services. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who We Are (Data Controller)
The data controller responsible for your personal data is Dao Huy, a freelance translator operating at daohuy.com. For any privacy matter you can reach us at daohuy27112000@gmail.com.
2. Scope of This Policy
This Policy applies to personal data we process through the Site, its contact and quote forms, and direct communications by email or messaging apps. It does not apply to third-party websites or platforms we link to, which have their own policies.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you provide
- Contact and quote details: your name, email address, and optionally phone number, company or organisation, country or city, preferred language pair, deadline, budget, and any message or project description you submit.
- Project materials: documents, files or text you send for quoting or translation, which may contain personal data of yours or of third parties.
- Address input: on certain quote forms an address field offers Google-powered suggestions; the text you type there is sent to Google to return suggestions.
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Technical and usage data: IP address, browser type, device and operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from your IP, processed by our hosting and security provider.
- Analytics events: aggregated, privacy-friendly usage events such as page views and referrers, collected without cookies and without profiling you across sites.
3.3 Cookies and local storage
We use a minimal set of cookies and browser local storage as described in our Cookie Policy. We do not use advertising cookies.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To respond to your enquiries and to prepare and send you quotes.
- To provide, perform and deliver translation and localization services.
- To send service communications such as confirmations, auto-replies and project updates.
- To operate, secure, maintain and improve the Site.
- To keep records for accounting, tax and legal compliance.
- To prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents.
5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract or steps taken at your request (handling quotes and projects); legitimate interests (operating and securing the Site, responding to enquiries, basic analytics); consent where required (for example optional form fields); and legal obligation (record-keeping). You may withdraw consent at any time.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Details of every cookie and storage item we use, and how to control them, are in the Cookie Policy.
7. Analytics
We use privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics to understand aggregate traffic, for example how many people view a page and where they came from. This data is not used to identify you individually and is not sold or shared for advertising.
8. Third-Party Services and Processors
We use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf or as needed to operate the Site:
- Cloudflare, Inc., website hosting, content delivery, security, and cookieless analytics.
- Google LLC, to receive and store quote submissions (via Google Apps Script and Google Sheets), to send email confirmations and auto-replies (via Gmail), and to provide address autocomplete suggestions on certain forms (Google Maps Platform).
- Communication platforms you choose to contact us through, such as email, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Upwork, Facebook or Instagram, which process your data under their own policies.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
9. International Data Transfers
Our providers may process and store data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the providers' standard contractual clauses.
10. Data Retention
We keep enquiry and quote data only as long as needed to respond and, where a project proceeds, for the duration of our working relationship plus any period required for accounting, tax or legal purposes. Project materials are deleted or returned on request once they are no longer needed, subject to legal retention duties. Aggregated analytics data contains no identifying information and may be kept indefinitely.
11. How We Protect Your Data
The Site is served over encrypted HTTPS connections and protected by our security provider. Access to enquiry and project data is limited to Dao Huy. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
12. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, request portability of data you provided, and withdraw consent. If you are in the EEA or UK you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you may request disclosure or deletion of your personal information and are entitled not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights; we do not sell personal information.
To exercise any right, email daohuy27112000@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
13. Confidentiality of Translation Materials
Documents and content you send for quoting or translation are treated as strictly confidential, used only to provide the requested service, and never published or shared without your consent. A non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is available on request.
14. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for business and professional use and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
15. Links to Other Sites
The Site contains links to external profiles and resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party sites.
